THE STORY: Lisa, a reality TV show-runner who’s suffered a substance-fueled career meltdown, chases her comeback by striking a deal with a devilish producer to create a surreally exploitive show pitting gifted drunks and junkies against each other in the familiar “Idol” talent-competition-with-judges format.

CHRIS ELLIOTT
Chris Elliott (“Addicted Idol” songs, lyrics, book) is a writer and musician who splits his time between Palm Springs and Kittery, Maine. He works as a trumpet player with The Funk Monks, a popular R&B band in the Coachella Valley. He has written many plays including “Deuces Wild,” “Bad Relationship” and “All He Had to Do Was Move the Car.” He leveraged his English degree from Yale University into a career first in news, then in technical documentation for large-scale software suites and finally in marketing and advertising. Recently retired from Guitar Center as lead copywriter for its band and orchestra division, he is a versatile writer, musician, stand-up comedian and spoken word artist. He is pleased and proud to see “Addicted Idol” continue its development.
JOHN BRENEMAN
John Breneman (“Addicted Idol” book co-writer) is a lifelong humorsmith and literary prankster. His (YouTube) music credits include his COVID rap classic Scrub Your Hands n Cross Your Fingers and M-Tone: World’s #1 Monotone Rapper. His short film Bicycle Time Traveler appeared in the 2024 New Hampshire Film Festival. John’s small-screen (YouTube) acting credits include his signature characters: Triple Action News Anchorman Reid Page; and Mr. Billy Buck Teefus, the American Redneck Savant. A career journalist, he is the author of the dark humor/suspense novel A Man of Remarkable Restraint.
Chris and John began writing “Addicted Idol” in 2009. Their 2019 collaboration on “Deuces Wild” / “Bad Relationship” (Players’ Ring, Ports., NH) is John’s lone live theater credit.
